DESCRIPTION OF CHANGE: Vishay Dale Thin Film is changing the properties of the resistor ink used to manufacture thick film surface mount chip resistors ranging in value from 10 ohm to 1 Meg ohm. This ink change involves a tailoring of the particle size distribution of one of the ink components of the DuPont 00X0A ink, without changing the proportion of the components, in order to improve the TCR characteristics. This change will thus reclassify this ink from the 00X0A ink to an 00X0V ink.
Even though this change is determined to be minor, qualification testing was performed according to MIL-PRF-55342 requirements. As part of this testing, Resistance to Solder Heat; Resistance Temperature Characteristic; Low Temperature Operation; Short Time Overload; High Temperature Exposure and Load Life was performed. The military thick film, RM0603, RM1206, and RM2512 styles with low, critical, and high values to qualify all styles were selected as detailed in the MIL-PRF-55342 specification.
